Felipe just finished the album “Nectar” with Mal’Akh. The album contains 12 tracks with a combination of contemporary music, rock, folklore and electronics. “Wild music in constant evolution” See “Mal’Akh” for more information.
He was also a nominee for a “Diosa de Plata” (Silver Goddess) for best music score for the film “Marcelino, Pan y Vino”
Prize given by the Association of the Mexican Film Journalists.
Felipe recently composed and recorded the music for the film “72” by Jorge Michel Grau.
He also recently finished the pieces “Red Antisocial 1 & 2” for flute, percussion and electronics for flutist Alejandro Escuer commissioned by the National Fund for the Arts, Mexico.
In December he will be performing with his ensemble “The Mal’Akh Ensemble” with the program “Animalik” which is a compliation of animation films with live music at the Cineteca Nacional, Mexico.
Felipe has recently been awarded with the scholarship of the National System of Art Creators in Mexico, one of the most important prizes given to an artist by the Mexican Government.
As part of this scholarship he will be working for the next three years in an exploration of the flute as a soloist in several instrumental combinations together with the flute player Alejandro Escuer.
He has also got a comission for a chamber opera for the program “Mexico Canta” (Mexico Sings) organized by the Vision Into Art Foundation in New York, to be performed in 2011 in USA and Mexico.
Currently he is working together with drummer/programmer Juan Arevalo and singer Ana Ragasol in an album for the Project “Mal’Akh”. This album will be produced by Camilo Froideval and will feature amazing guest musicians like Shara Worden, Denise Gutierrez, Daniel Zlotnik and Jeffrey Zeigler.
He will also work on a new film by LOB Films, Mexico.
And many concerts, collaborations, remixes, etc.
In October Felipe will have his electronic piece “Threads” as part of the light-architecture installation from the Architects Yann Follain and Pauline Gaudry during the festival “Mirage dans la ville lumiere” in Singapore.
Also his set of works for cello solo and electronics that were premiered in NY earlier this year will be played October 27th at the “Claustro de Sor Juana” in Mexico City.
As part of the celebrations of the hundred years of the Mexican Revolution, Felipe will be musical director of the concert “Revolución” with pieces from that period played by the “Sonore” string quartet, his “Mal’Akh Ensemble” and Lila Downs and Denise Gutierrez as singers.
In December the film “Marcelino, Pan y Vino” directed by José Luis Gutierrez, produced by LOB Films and for which Felipe composed the original music recorded by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, will go on premiere in Mexico.
In June Felipe will be giving master classes at the Mexican Center for Music and Sonic Art in Morelia, Mexico.
Felipe is also currently working in the score for the film “Marcelino, pan y vino” by Jose Luis Gutierrez and produced by LOB Films, Mexico and the music will be recorded with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra in Prague and mixed at Sonic Ranch in Texas everything under the production of Camilo Froideval.
